2020 Audi A4, A5, A6, A7 recalled

Audi Australia has issued a recall for 2020 model-year examples of the A4, A5, A6 and A7 with 2.0 TFSI mild-hybrid engines over a fire risk.

The German marque reports the 29 affected vehicles, manufactured between May 2017 and March 2020, may have a fault where a gap in the starter-alternator housing could allow moisture in.

Should the condition occur, the component could overheat, posing a fire risk.

“If the component overheats it may catch fire, posing a risk of injury to vehicle occupants, bystanders and/or damage to property,” Audi says in its recall notice.

“Consumers who notice a smouldering smell while the vehicle is moving should park the vehicle safely outside as soon as possible and contact an Audi dealer.”

“As a precaution, consumers should park their vehicle outside only (avoid parking undercover) and not wash the engine until the component has been replaced,” the company adds.

As noted above, this recall affected Audi A4, A5, A6 and A7 models fitted with the 2.0 TFSI turbo petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid system.

Owners of the recalled Audi models will be contacted by Audi Australia, or are otherwise advised to get in touch with their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
