Mazda Australia has recalled the 2020 BT-50 ute to fix a problem with its rear seatbelt pretensioner.
According to the company, “the rear seat belt pretensioner connector lock may not have been installed correctly during vehicle assembly and will not tension properly”.
“If the pretensioner wiring harness connector incorrectly locks, this can prevent it from fully tensioning the seatbelt in the event of an accident. This could increase the risk of injury or in the case of a serious accident, increase the risk of death to vehicle occupants,” Mazda says.
- A total of 130 cars are included in the recall.
- Affected cars were sold between 23 September and 5 November 2020.
- A VIN list of affected vehicles is attached here.

Mazda Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
