2021 Nissan Qashqai Midnight Edition price and specs

The Nissan Qashqai Midnight Edition has been detailed ahead of a mid-November release, priced from $35,900 before on-road costs.

Sitting somewhere between the ST-L and Ti grades, the Midnight Edition sports a unique blacked-out look and premium equipment borrowed from the flagship trim level.

As with the wider Australian Qashqai range, the Midnight Edition is powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, developing 106kW at 6000rpm and 200Nm at 4400rpm.

Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which Nissan dubs Xtronic. Unfortunately, Australian models continue to go without the option of the punchier 118kW/270Nm 1.3-litre turbo four and seven-speed dual-clutch auto available in European and UK models.

Five exterior colour options will be offered – Vivid Blue, Ivory Pearl, Gun Metallic, Magnetic Red and Pearl Black. Vivid Blue is the only colour from the standard palette which doesn’t incur an extra cost, whereas premium paints are $650 extra.

Once a sales leader in the mainstream small SUV segment, the Qashqai has shifted 5116 units year-to-date as of September 30, marking a year-on-year decline of 43.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2019.
