Porsche has been snapped testing its updated 911 once again.
The 2023 Porsche 911 appears likely to get a mid-life nip-and-tuck, with styling updates and the potential for some powertrain tweaks.
Although it’s still identifiably a 992-generation car, the 992.2 looks likely to get a new radar pod built into the lower part of its front bumper, and what look like new vertical vanes in the front air vents.
The changes to this car – likely a Carrera or Carrera S – mirror those applied to a Turbo snapped earlier in 2022.
There’s more camouflage on the rear end, and the light bar looks slightly different to that of the current car.
Along with the massaged exterior, our spy photographer quotes an “informer in Weissach” who says the 911 could once again offer a naturally-aspirated engine in the mainstream 911 Carrera line-up.
Nothing Porsche has previously said points to free-breathing engines coming back to the Carrera, Carrera S, or GTS, but our snapper points to similarities between the exhaust on this particular car and the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 as some proof.
The 4.0-litre engine in the Cayman GTS makes 294kW of power and 430Nm of torque, although it’s boosted to 309kW in the Cayman GT4.
That makes it slightly more powerful (but less torquey) than the 3.0-litre turbocharged engine in the base 911 Carrera. The only naturally-aspirated 911 is currently the GT3, with a 4.0-litre flat-six making 375kW and 470Nm.
