2024 Volkswagen Tiguan: New-gen SUV caught while testing again

The third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but there will be few surprises when it is.

Our spy photographers in Europe have captured the new mid-sized SUV while testing yet again, this time in white paint rather than black. It was captured on a sunny day with a brisk temperature of -23 degrees.

The third-gen Tiguan clearly offers a more curvaceous profile with upper body sculpting reminiscent of its larger siblings.

It’s expected the new Tiguan will migrate to the latest MQB Evo platform like the Golf 8 and Skoda Octavia – with petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options.

A hot Tiguan R with running gear lifted from the Golf R is a near-certainty as well, though a full electric model is less likely given the existence of the similarly sized, EV-only ID.4.

While our spy photographers weren’t able to capture any interior images of this particular Tiguan prototype, they have previously snapped the inside of an earlier prototype.

A glance inside reveals a new-look centre touchscreen, the absence of buttons and dials, and a simpler cluster design.

We’d be expecting the new Tiguan to appear in 2023 at one of the major European motorshows, with a market launch for 2024.

The current-generation model has been in production since 2016, with the typical vehicle life-cycle lasting 7-8 years.
