Italy’s pint-sized hot hatch is celebrating a big birthday with a super limited edition.
The 2020 Abarth 695 70° Anniversario celebrates the company’s 70th anniversary – Abarth was founded in 1949 – with just 40 examples bound for Australia out of the global production run of 1949 units.
Based on the Abarth 595 Competizione, the 70° Anniversario edition boasts a range of specific features and appointments, headlined by the ‘Spoiler ad Assestto Variabile’, a manually-adjustable rear spoiler allowing for 12 different positions to “refine vehicle performance, achieve aerodynamic optimisation and improve stability at high speeds”.
Other highlights include:
Carryover equipment from the 595 Competizione includes a 7.0-inch Uconnect touchscreen with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, automatic xenon headlights, LED fog lights and rain-sensing wipers.
Power comes from the familiar 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine used throughout the Abarth line-up, developing 134kW and 250Nm (@3000rpm) in this specification. Abarth doesn’t quote a 0-100km/h time but does claim the 695 70° Anniversario will hit a top speed of 225km/h.
The Abarth 695 70° Anniversario will be available in five colours, including the exclusive Monza 1958 Green pictured here.
Both five-speed manual and five-speed ‘Dualogic’ automated manual transmissions will be offered, both priced from $44,950 plus on-road costs.
The Abarth 695 70° Anniversario is on sale now.
