My dashboardClimate change protestors claiming the world is “on the highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator” have interrupted a high-profile single-seater race in Germany.
The only problem was, the race didn’t involve any petrol-powered cars. Instead, it was a Formula E race.
Protestors from German activist group Letzte Generation (Last Generation) jumped the fence at the Tempelhof race in Berlin as the cars were lining up on the grid, forcing security to drag them off the track – and delaying the race.
The drivers were, naturally, confused by the protests given Formula E has been conceived with the environment in mind.
“I just cannot really get my head around those people, what they are thinking really,” ABT driver Robin Frijns told The Race.
“We are here, Formula E is standing for helping the environment and then they do this. I don’t really understand.”
