GWM Australia has recalled 2872 examples of the GWM Ute Cannon, due to a manufacturing fault that can cause the dual-cab to catch fire.
“During the installation of the diesel fuel filter assembly, the incorrect lubricant type was used on the fuel filter sealing rubber ‘O-ring’,” said the Chinese auto brand in its recall notice.
“As a result, the sealing may reduce overtime, allowing fuel to leak from the filter housing. Fuel leak in the presence of an external ignition source could result in a vehicle fire.
“A vehicle fire could cause injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”
