Jeep Gladiator starting price to drop late in 2020

Jeep will make the entry point to its dual-cab Gladiator ute range $10,000 cheaper late in 2020.

But even with a sticker price around $65,000 before on-road costs, the Wrangler-based Gladiator Sport S pickup will be among the most expensive utes on the market in Australia.

A range-topping Ford Ranger Wildtrak is priced from $65,390 before on-road costs with a Bi-Turbo diesel engine, while Nissan charges $63,490 before on-roads for its most capable Navara N-Trek Warrior.

“Details and price will be confirmed later this year,” a Jeep spokesperson told CarExpert, but the equivalent model in the USA drops the 8.4-inch infotainment system standard in Australia for a 5.0-inch unit.

It also packs cloth-trimmed seats instead of leather, 17-inch alloy wheels instead of 18-inch units, and a soft top. The Sport S is a mid-range model in the USA, sitting between the base Sport and the Overland.

The off-road hardware is downgraded as standard in the USA, although an uprated Towing Package with tougher differentials and improved cooling is available.

Currently, the entry-level Jeep Gladiator Overland is priced from $75,450 before on-road costs. The most expensive Launch Edition kicks off at $86,450 before on-road costs.

Regardless of spec, Jeep has confirmed the Gladiator won’t be offered with diesel power in Australia.

It will instead only be available with a 3.6-litre petrol V6 making 209kW and 347Nm.
