Maybe don't drive your Tesla with VR goggles on

Apple released its Vision Pro mixed reality headset earlier this month, and already a couple of Tesla owners have been caught using it while driving.

X (formerly known as Twitter) users are posting their experiences with the Apple Vision Pro headset, which features both virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) but certainly isn’t intended for use while driving.

In a video shared on X by Jim Cramer, the driver of a Cybertruck can be seen using their hands to control the AR software from the headset while having both of their hands off the steering wheel for several seconds.

It’s unclear how fast the vehicle was travelling at the time or if the vehicle’s Autopilot system was activated.

The Tesla Cybertruck is capable of travelling from 0-100km/h in 2.6 seconds and weighs over three tonnes, posing a very serious problem if the driver doesn’t have control of the vehicle and collides with someone or something.

In a separate video published on X, a driver is seen operating a Tesla wearing the headset before seemingly being pulled over by police.

This driver does at least seem to have some form of control of the vehicle with one hand on the steering wheel for a chunk of the video.

It’s unclear if they were arrested or charged over using the headset while driving.

Another Tesla owner shared on X a much more responsible use of the headset: unlocking the boot and frunk using a projection of the Tesla app, while their Model S was safely parked.

Introduced in the US earlier this month, the Apple Vision Pro isn’t yet available in Australia.
