JLR Australia is recalling various 2023-24 Range Rover, Defender and Discovery SUVs as an oil leak could lead to a vehicle fire.

JLR Australia has recalled 143 vehicles across multiple model lines due to a fault which can lead to a vehicle fire.
The recall affects examples of the Land Rover Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Velar built between 2023 and 2024.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the oil filter housing may not meet specifications and could crack over time. If this occurs, oil could leak into the engine bay and accumulate in the presence of an ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire,” JLR said in its recall notice.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll be contacted by JLR to schedule an appointment with your nearest dealership to replace the oil filter housing, along with filter and associated o-rings, free of charge.
If you have any questions about the recall, you can call JLR Australia on 1800 625 642.
