Subaru WRX Club Spec Limited Edition bound for Australia

Subaru has brought Club Spec badge back.

A new limited-run WRX Club Spec is bound for Australian showrooms, but potential buyers will need to be quick.

Just 150 will be offered at an $1100 impost over the WRX Premium, with a sticker price of $47,990 before on-road costs for the manual, and $50,490 before on-roads for the CVT.

The extra $7000 gets you a set of Recaro bucket seats, a suede-trimmed steering wheel, a unique instrument binnacle, an uprated Harman Kardon stereo system, and a smattering of badges.

Externally, there’s the 18-inch alloy wheels from the WRX STI, black trim on the mirrors, lip spoiler, and antenna, and red Brembo brake calipers – but the racier brake bits are only available on the manual. Spec wisely.

Previous limited-run WRX models, including the last Club Spec and past Club Spec Evo have featured more obvious exterior add-ons, ranging from a prominent rear wing to colourful exterior graphics.

Subaru hasn’t breathed on the 2.0-litre turbocharged boxer engine, which pumps out 197kW of power and 350Nm of torque.

The manual is a six-speeder, the CVT has an infinite spread of ratios but allows drivers to flick through six preset ‘gears’ using paddles behind the steering wheel.

The current Subaru WRX has been on sale since 2015, and sits below the WRX STI in the Subaru performance line-up.
