Tesla Model 3 recalled for seatbelt fix

Tesla is recalling 326 examples of its Model 3 electric sedan due to a problem with the rear seatbelt assembly.

The recall affects Model 3 vehicles produced between 2017 and 2022.

“Due to the vehicle design, servicing certain components requires disassembly of the second row left seat belt buckle and centre seat belt anchor, both of which are fastened with the same bolt,” said the company in its recall notice.

“During servicing, it is possible the seat belt buckle & anchor may have been re-assembled to the fastening bolt incorrectly. As a result, the seat belt may not operate as intended.”

If you own an affected vehicle you will need to make an appointment with your preferred authorised Tesla dealer to have the component inspected and rectified, free of charge.

This Australian-focused recall is part of a wider issue that forced Tesla to recall more 24,000 examples in the USA, as reported by Electrek late last week.
