Jim K. purchased this MG 4 new with additional options for $36,000 (including all on-road costs).
Jim K. would buy this car again because: “It’s a great car to drive, it's a great price for an EV and it seems to be the best future-proof option at the moment (V2L, V2G, etc). The 10-year warranty on the car and battery was a great selling point, also being able to tow was a must.”
No issues at all (yet). I read about a few of the issues raised with other owners and most of these seem trivial – lane assist seems to make me a better driver according to the missus, and having to put it in eco mode each time you turn it on seems to be a no-issue to me.
Great so far – only downside was the aftermarket sales pitch once we had signed up for the car. Couldn’t leave the sales office without upsetting the unfortunate sales pitch. Believe most of these options should have been dealt with during the initial sales pitch (ceramic paint. seat covers, tinted widows and so on).
Fair at best – purchased with a towbar that was not ready when vehicle was delivered and we were told we would need to bring it back in a couple of weeks. Two months later, after many phone calls from me, I was finally told that it would be another 2-3 months. Cancelled and got an aftermarket one fitted. One week later I got a text saying ours was in and ready to fit, grrr.
Very happy with the price and features – only suggestion would be to have a price for all optional extras explained to us before signing on the dotted line, not whilst we are leaving the salesperson (though it’s our first new car in 20 years so it’s probably a standard practice nowadays?).
Performance is fantastic, economy still getting used to. Still have a bit of range anxiety taking it for a 1000km road trip with trailer on and will have a better idea on this after the trip (I hope).
The technology is next level, from the 100+ radio stations now available, to the driver-assist functions that help you stay safer on the road to everything in between. (Navigation, keyless entry, autopilot functions, infotainment, aircon, driving modes, plus more!)
It’s an extremely comfortable car to drive, standard seats are great – think the heated seats and steering wheel are a bit of overkill for the Australian market. The handling is superb from the acceleration from stopped, to the handling on curvy roads, can’t fault it.
Would love to do a review of my planned 1000k road trip with trailer. I will write down as much info as possible.
