Volkswagen is close to offering a full SUV range. It has the Touareg and Tiguan at the top end, and the Golf-based T-Roc sitting in the middle.
Now, at the bottom end of the range, there’s the Polo-based T-Cross.
The brand’s new entry-level SUV goes head-to-head with the Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke, although it sacrifices some style in favour of luggage an occupant space compared to those two.
The T-Cross is available in just two variants, Life and Style, priced at $27,990 and $30,990 before on-road costs, respectively.

All prices exclude on-road costs.

The 2020 Volkswagen T-Cross is available exclusively with a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine. It produces 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All T-Cross models are front-wheel drive.

The 2020 Volkswagen T-Cross consumes 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle. It requires 95RON premium unleaded fuel.

That’s based on Euro NCAP testing conducted in 2019, where the T-Cross received an adult protection score of 97 per cent, a child occupant protection score of 85 per cent, a pedestrian protection score of 81 per cent, and a safety assist score of 80 per cent.
All 2020 T-Cross models come standard with city-speed autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, anti-lock brakes, and front and curtain airbags plus a driver’s knee airbag. The 85TSI Style adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
