2023 Mazda CX-8 here in March with upgraded infotainment

Mazda Australia has released preliminary details of the updated 2023 CX-8 line-up ahead of its arrival in March next year.

Full pricing and specifications will be announced closer to launch, though the brand’s local arm has confirmed a number of changes for the Australian range, including the range-wide adoption of the 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system which also brings new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

Also new for 2023 will be a 7.0-inch digital instrument display across the range, USB-C ports for first-row occupants and a remote window control system activated via the key fob. The Mi Drive selectable drive mode system will be standard for AWD versions of the CX-8, offering Normal, Sport and Off-Road modes.

On top of the exterior revisions revealed overnight, including a new block mesh pattern front grille, restyled bumpers, new headlight and tail light designs and sleeker tailgate, the updated CX-8 family will bring new alloy wheel designs across the line-up.

The new Rhodium White premium metallic – which debuted with the CX-60 – will also be added to the now eight-strong paint palette.

Under the skin, Mazda says the new CX-8 benefits from “exhaustive research, testing and development” to achieve further reductions in noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels, contributing to a quieter, smoother ride.

It’s unclear whether the new Grand Journey and Sports Appearance packages from the Japanese range will make it here, though the smaller CX-5 offers both of these under the Touring Active and GT SP nameplates following its similar refresh earlier this year.

As noted earlier, full details of the updated line-up will be confirmed closer to launch. Currently, the CX-8 offers 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesel engines, with the more powerful 2.5-litre turbo petrol offered in Japan reserved for the larger CX-9 in Australia.
