The Mercedes-Benz GLC has a new entry-level variant, giving prospective buyers of the BMW X3 rival a more affordable option.
Joining the existing GLC300 variants is the new GLC200, coming with less equipment and less potent outputs for a lower price.
Priced from $89,000 before on-road costs – or $95,500 drive-away if ordered before April 30, 2025 – the GLC200 4Matic is $16,100 less than the GLC300 4Matic, which itself has incurred a $1730 price increase.
That makes it the most affordable version of the current-generation GLC, which launched in Australia two years ago.
However, the GLC’s base price is still $2900 dearer than the similarly sized BMW X3, which starts from $86,100 before on-road costs.

A price increase has also been handed down to the sloped-back GLC300 4Matic Coupe, now $3100 more expensive with a starting price of $117,000 before on-roads.
Compared to the GLC300, the GLC200 misses out on the AMG exterior and interior design packages as standard.
It instead uses Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Avantgarde’ exterior styling, most recently found in the limited-run GLC300 4Matic Avantgarde, of which only a handful of examples remain with a $99,900 drive-away price.
Its engine is also down 40kW and 60Nm on the more expensive SUV, however it’s slightly more efficient and still retains the 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC range is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Logbook servicing is required every 12 months or 25,000km, whichever comes first.
For the GLC300 variants, Mercedes-Benz offers three-, four-, and five-year servicing packages priced at $3100, $4200, and $6455, respectively. It’s yet to confirm service pack prices for the GLC200.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC wagon earned a five-star ANCAP safety rating in 2023, based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP. It’s understood this doesn’t include the Coupe body style.
