The Xiaomi YU7 GT electric performance SUV has been revealed, packing a supercar-like 738kW peak power output and a Ferrari Purosangue-aping five-door body presented in Cherry Red paintwork.

According to CarNewsChina, the five-door GT was described by Xiaomi – a smartphone-turned-automaker which launched its first model, the SU7, in 2023 – as a “pure-blooded GT”.

It’s the halo model for the YU7 range, which is already offered in three grades – YU7, YU7 Pro and YU7 Max – offering up to 508kW/866Nm.

The Xiaomi brand is not currently present in Australia, and the YU7 is not expected to become available here any time soon.

The new GT’s Italian-inspired body follows the visual theme of the SU7, including scalloped ‘water drop’ headlights, smooth lines with flush door handles, frameless side window glass, and a swooping roofline.

The images show the optional 24K carbon-fibre pack, comprising 22-inch Michelin-shod alloy wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and more aggressive bumpers including a vertical blade-style diffuser at the rear.

There’s also a ducktail spoiler and ‘halo’ tail-lights at the rear of the car, which measures 5015mm long, 2007mm wide and 1597mm tall.

The YU7 GT has a dual-motor powertrain, with a 288kW front and a 450kW rear motor enabling a combined output of 738kW to be sent to all four wheels.

That’s enough to propel the 2405kg GT to a claimed 300km/h top speed, and Xiaomi has also tested the new GT on the Nürburgring circuit in Germany.

The Yu7 flagship has a 705km (CLTC) driving range and its chassis incorporates air suspension with adaptive dampers, rear-axle torque vectoring, and track-tuned stability control calibration.

Despite setting multiple lap times around the Nürburgring in the SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi has not revealed whether it has clocked the YU7 around the famed German public-road course, nor published a 0-100km/h acceleration claim.

Pricing has not been announced, but CarNewsChina reports the YU7 GT could cost around ¥450,000-500,000 (A$92,500-$103,000) before on-road costs in China.

The brand has also confirmed it is working on a third model, the YU9 a full-size SUV to be powered by an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. MORE: Chinese brand apologises to buyers after halving EV’s power via remote update
