Alfa Romeo Australia has confirmed it will offer 50 new limited-edition Intensa Special Series vehicles locally, each of which will bring cosmetic and chassis upgrades, plus additional driver assist tech.

Available to order now, the 50 vehicles will include 10 Tonale small SUVs priced from $69,990 before on-road costs, 10 Stelvio mid-size SUVs priced from $94,490 before on-roads, and 30 Giulia mid-size sedans priced at $84,990 plus on-roads.

That’s a significant up step for the Tonale Instensa, which is based on the mild-hybrid Tonale Veloce variant priced from $58,990 plus on-roads, and which which was offered with even cheaper drive-away deals earlier this year.

The Giulia and Stelvio Intesna, meantime, come with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and cost between $5000 and $6000 more than the priciest regular versions with the same powertrain.

The Intensa Special Series models each come in three exterior paint colours – Alfa Black, Alfa Red and Montreal Green for the Tonale, and Volcano Black, Etna Red and Montreal Green for the Stelvio and Giulia.

The colours are designed to highlight gold exterior details on all three models, as well as the 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on the Giulia, and the 20-inch versions on the Tonale and Stelvio.

They’re paired with black Brembo brake calipers with light gold accents, and there’s also privacy glass and dark-tinted tail-lights for the Stelvio and Gulia, and a body kit for the Tonale.

There are also details including Italian flags on the side mirrors and further light gold exterior accents.

The interior in all three limited editions includes head restraints with embroidered Alfa Romeo logos, a two-tone steering wheel and embroidered Intensa logos throughout.

There’s Anthracite Grey trim with tan stitching for the Tonale Intensa, plus a rotary gear selector for the first time in an Australian version of the small SUV.

Intensa versions of the Giulia and Stelvio also come with tan-stitched leather seat trim, while all three have a sunroof fitted as standard.

On the safety front, all three also add plus active driving assist including adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

The Intensa specials also bring chassis upgrades, with the Tonale using a ‘dual-stage valve’ damping system, while the Stelvio and Giulia employ Alfa’s Synaptic Dynamic Control (SDC) suspension.

There are no other changes over the standard versions of each model.

The front-wheel drive Tonale Intensa is powered by a 117kW/240Nm 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine, aided by a 15kW electric motor, and matched with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmssion.

Both the all-wheel drive Stelvio and the rear-drive Giulia Intensas are powered by a 206kW/400Nm turbo-petrol engine and an eight-speed auto.  MORE: Explore the Alfa Romeo showroom
