BMW Australia has issued a recall for 1269 vehicles across the X3 M, X4 M, 3 Series and Z4 model lines over concerns the steering track rods could brake.
Certain MY18 and MY19 examples across these lines could have steering track rods that get damaged “when exposed to high temperatures and vibrational loads.
“If the steering track rods are damaged or break, the vehicle will have limited steering ability and may not steer as expected,” BMW says.
“Limited steering ability increases the risk of an accident with injury or death of the vehicle occupants and other road users.”
BMW Australia will contact all known owners, who are advised to get in touch with their preferred dealer or with the company’s local Customer Interaction Centre on 1800 813 299 to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
For more information, customers can use the BMW Australia VIN look-up tool here.
