BMW X3 recalled

BMW is recalling over 26,000 X3 SUVs due to a defective cargo rail.

“The attachment for the interior cargo rail may become damaged in the event of an extreme rear impact,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This could result in the interior cargo rail detaching from the vehicle.

“If the interior cargo rail detaches from the vehicle, it can increase the risk of serious injury to vehicle passengers.”

• A total of 26,212 vehicles are affected, including the X3 M and Alpina XD3, from 2017 to 2024

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to make an appointment with a BMW dealership to have the recall completed.

BMW will replace the rear cargo rail attachment bolts, free of charge.
