Following its voluntary recall announcement last week, General Motors Australia and New Zealand (GM ANZ) has today issued an official product safety recall notice for the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 due to the potential for a vehicle fire caused by a badly designed fuel filler.
“Due to a design defect, fuel spilled into the fuel filler pocket whilst refuelling can come in contact with an ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire,” said GM ANZ in its recall notice.
“Note: General Motors advises owners to always follow the fuelling instructions detailed in their owner’s manual.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and/or damage to property.”
