About Marton
Marton Pettendy has been an automotive journalist since late 1989, when he left his journalism degree to join his favourite magazine, Australian Motor Cycle News.
Shortly after that he trialled a career as a motorcycle racer, campaigning 250 and 600cc production bikes at state and national level – like his son in more recent times.
He went on to help establish Rider magazine, before switching to cars and becoming Auto Action editor in 1996, and later held senior editorial roles at Motor, GoAuto, and Carsales before becoming managing editor at CarExpert in 2024.
Outside the office, Marton is usually on two wheels – either his KTM adventure bike or Yamaha muscle bike. His garage also houses a Toyota RAV4, a Subaru Forester, a Holden SS ute, and more motorcycles and farm machines than he cares to admit.
