Isuzu cuts D-Max and MU-X servicing costs... and also coverage

The Isuzu D-Max and MU-X will benefit from cheaper capped-price services, but a shorter period than previous versions of the models.

Isuzu Ute Australia has introduced new capped-price servicing costs for its popular D-Max ute and MU-X SUV – but there’s a catch which may end up making the models more expensive to maintain in the long run.

A new five-year capped-price servicing model has been introduced for 2024 model year examples of the D-Max and MU-X, replacing Isuzu’s previous seven-year coverage.

The new Flat Price Servicing program features a fixed rate of $449 across the first five services – which are scheduled to take place at 12-month or 15,000km intervals – for a total of $2245 across the period.

For comparison, the Ford Ranger’s services are capped at $379 for its first four visits (at 12-month/15,000km intervals), while the Toyota HiLux’s pricing is between $245 and $290 per visit for the first six visits (six-month/10,000km intervals).

Compared to model year 2023 Isuzu D-Max and MU-Xs powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, this represents savings of $310 across the five-year period.

For 1.9-litre turbo-diesel examples of the D-Max, the savings are reduced to $135 until the five-year/75,000km service is completed.

However, there are no more capped prices for the six-year (72 month)/90,000km service – which cost $695 for the 1.9-litre and $885 for the 3.0-litre – nor the seven-year (84 month)/105,000km service, previously capped at $515 for both engines.

The 2024 Isuzu MU-X was priced for Australia earlier today and is due to go on sale next month, while the facelifted D-Max is expected to launch in Australia in the coming weeks.
