Jeep Grand Cherokee: More than 40,000 cars recalled

FCA Australia is recalling over 42,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees as their fuel pumps could fail.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the High-Pressure Fuel Pump could fail prematurely and introduce failed component debris into the fuel system,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This could impair the fuel supply to the engine and result in a loss of power whilst driving.

“A loss of power while driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.”

The Chrysler 300 is also being recalled for the same issue.

• A total of 42,326 vehicles are affected from 2011 to 2022

Parts aren’t currently available, so the company will contact owners of affected vehicles to advise when they are.

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll then need to contact an authorised Jeep dealership to have the free repair carried out.
