Kia Australia is recalling 5069 examples of the Cerato, Sportage and Sorento because their engines could seize, potentially resulting in a vehicle fire.
This recall affects YD-generation Cerato, SL-generation Sportage, and XM-generation Sorento models produced from 2011 to 2015.
“If the subject vehicles are continuously operated without inspection, the engine may exhibit abnormal noise and potentially seize,” said the company in its recall notice.
“This may cause a sudden loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire.”

If you own an affected vehicle you should contact your preferred Kia dealer immediately to schedule an appointment to have the engine inspected and, if required, replaced free of charge.
If you have further questions you can contact Kia Customer Service on 131 542.
