BMW is recalling more than 13,000 vehicles across some of its most popular model lines as a manufacturing defect could lead to a vehicle fire.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, liquid may enter the electrical water pump connectors,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle fire.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”
The recall affects the 3 Series (328i), 5 Series (520i and 528i), X1, X3 and Z4 model lines.
