Toyota Prado recalled

More than 13,000 Toyota LandCruiser Prado SUVs have been recalled due to an issue with their instrument cluster, though the fault can be fixed with an over-the-air update.

The issue affects Prado VX, Altitude and Kakadu variants with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

"During vehicle startup, due to a software error of the combination meter, some areas of the combination meter may not be displayed," Toyota Australia says in its recall notice.

"In this condition, the indicators for engine oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, electrical charge, and other warning messages may not display on the combination meter.

"Failure of the instrument cluster to display critical safety information or warning indicators may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users."

• A total of 13,042 vehicles are affected, produced between June 24, 2024 and June 21, 2025

Toyota is rolling out an over-the-air update to address the issue, so you won't need to take your Prado to a dealership. Should you do so, you may need to make the vehicle available for a longer period, depending on the dealer's work schedule.

A pop-up will appear on the vehicle's infotainment touchscreen advising of the fix, which will be delivered via two separate over-the-air updates. In total, the fix will take approximately 60-90 minutes to be applied.
