No worries, M8: GAC facing potential trademark challenge from BMW
BMW could challenge GAC over the name of its plug-in hybrid people-mover, but GAC’s boss has shrugged off the potential move.

GAC – pronounced G-A-C – is a Chinese auto brand that entered Australia in November 2025. GAC Australia, a factory-backed operation, will offer models from three of parent company GAC Group's auto brands: Trumpchi, which sells petrol and hybrid vehicles; Aion, which sells electric vehicles; and Hyptec, a premium EV brand.
The Chinese automaker has long-standing joint ventures with Toyota and Honda, and in China offers a slew of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles in addition to traditional petrol-powered models.
