About the Toyota Camry
Last updated Sep 28, 2025Toyota has introduced a heavily updated hybrid-only Camry range in Australia for the 2025 model year, featuring a next-generation Hybrid Electric powertrain, a refined exterior and interior design, and significant upgrades to multimedia and active safety technologies.
The 2025 model year Camry shares its wheelbase with the last Camry, but has a larger body and a new hybrid system under the bonnet. Gone is the petrol-only model; the Camry is now only offered with a hybrid setup. Toyota anticipates around 70 per cent will be sold to fleets, with the remainder finding a home with buyers not keen to follow the crowd to an SUV.
As part of Toyota’s commitment to fuel-efficient technologies, the new Camry debuts the fifth-generation 2.5-litre Hybrid Electric powertrain for the Australian market. This new system offers increased power, improved driving performance, and reduced fuel consumption, achieving a claimed 4.0L/100km.

2025 Toyota Camry Exterior
The new-generation Toyota Camry features an exterior design based on Toyota’s Hammer Head design language, which was first introduced on the bZ4X Battery Electric SUV and the 2024 C-HR. The Camry's overall length is now 4920mm, 35mm longer than the previous model, while its height (1445mm), width (1840mm), and wheelbase (2825mm) remain unchanged.
Key design elements include a C-shaped headlight cluster and a forward-sloping bonnet. The daytime running lights (DRLs) are positioned within the headlight cluster to emphasize the C-shape, while an upper grille section connects the headlights, contributing to a wider front fascia appearance. The Ascent grade features a combined high/low beam LED module, while the Ascent Sport and SL grades have separate high and low-beam modules. In these higher trims, the DRLs also function as turn signals.
The lower grille incorporates a horizontal pattern that transitions to a diamond-shaped mesh at the edges, creating a 3D-like effect. LED fog lamps are integrated into the outer sections of the grille. Functional air curtains and corner canards at the lower bumper edges direct airflow to the wheel arches, improving aerodynamics. Additional aerodynamic improvements include a reshaped bonnet edge, A-pillars, and rain gutters for a more streamlined profile.
At the rear, the taillights mirror the C-shaped design of the headlights and are integrated into the sculpted rear end to emphasize the vehicle's width. The Ascent and Ascent Sport come with 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with 215/55R17 tyres, while the SL is equipped with 18-inch alloys with a dark and bright machined finish, paired with 235/45R18 tyres.
The new Camry is available in eight exterior colours: Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Pearl, Liquid Mercury, Eclipse Black, Jasper Red, Precious Bronze, and Saturn Blue.

The interior of the new Toyota Camry has been redesigned to improve functionality and usability, featuring high-quality materials applied across the seats, instrument panel, and doors. Silver metal accents are used throughout the cabin.
The dashboard integrates the driver’s instrument cluster, multimedia touchscreen, and climate control vents into a unified design that extends into the door panels. Horizontal slats on the passenger side emphasize the cabin's width, and the dashboard’s lower edge flows into the centre console for a cohesive look.
The redesigned steering wheel features an expanded array of buttons. The Ascent model has a soft-touch urethane finish, while the Ascent Sport and SL models use leather. The steering wheel offers tilt and telescopic adjustments, with power adjustment and heating available in the SL.
The climate control system includes dual-zone automatic settings, with Nanoe X air ionisation technology available in the SL. Controls are a combination of touchscreen and physical buttons.
The seats have been designed for increased comfort on long drives, with a revised cushion shape. Ascent models offer manual seat adjustments with high-quality fabric, while the Ascent Sport adds eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. The SL includes power adjustments for both front seats, leather-accented upholstery, and memory settings for the driver’s seat and steering wheel. The SL also features heated and ventilated front seats with an automatic slide-away function for easier entry and exit.
The multimedia system in the Ascent is displayed on an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the Ascent Sport and SL models feature a 12.3-inch display.
The centre console includes cupholders, a console tray, and a 7-litre storage box. Ascent Sport and SL models have a 15W wireless smartphone charger. Additional charging options include USB-C ports, a USB data port, and a 12V socket, with rear USB-C ports available for passengers.

The Ascent and Ascent Sport models come with a 7.0-inch colour digital instrument cluster that can be configured in multiple display layouts. The Camry SL has a 12.3-inch fully digital display with options for customising vehicle information, navigation, fuel consumption, and active safety systems.
The Camry SL is equipped with a colour head-up display offering four display modes and a digital rearview mirror that projects a rear camera image. The mirror can be switched between digital and traditional modes.
The multimedia system in the Ascent is displayed on an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the Ascent Sport and SL models feature a 12.3-inch display. The system includes cloud-based satellite navigation, AM/FM/DAB+ radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ascent and Ascent Sport have a six-speaker audio system, and the SL is equipped with a nine-speaker JBL sound system.
