2019-21 Audi Q7, Q8 recalled

Audi Australia has recalled a handful of 2019-21 Q7 and Q8 SUVs, over concerns a faulty gearbox oil pipe could spring a leak.

Following a similar recall for the related Volkswagen Touareg earlier this month, seven vehicles across the Q7 and Q8 lines have been called back to dealers.

“A gearbox oil pipe may have been incorrectly welded, which can result in a transmission oil leakage,” Audi says in its recall notice.

“If the transmission oil leaks, there is an increased risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

Affected ‘4M’ Audi Q7 models fall between the 2020 and 2021 model years, while affected ‘F1’ Audi Q8 vehicles span across the 2019 and 2021 model years.

The seven affected units are fitted with gearbox type AL552-8Q, and were manufactured between September 2019 and December 2019.

Owners will be contacted by Audi Australia, and will be instructed to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the plastic oil line leading from the gearbox to the oil cooler.
