2022 Audi Q6 e-tron spied

Audi is busy developing a clutch of new electric vehicles, and the new Q6 E-Tron is being primed to tackle Tesla head on.

The Q6 E-Tron rides on the Platform Premium Electric (PPE) that’s being jointly developed by Porsche and Audi, and which will be used for the next-generation Porsche Macan.

Both the new Macan and Q6 E-Tron are set to debut in 2022, and will be the first production vehicles on PPE.

The Q6 E-Tron will sit above the Q4 E-Tron that’s set to debut this month.

The Q4 utilises the MEB architecture employed by the Volkswagen ID.4 and other mainstream models.

Cars based on PPE will reportedly be available with features like all-wheel steering, fast charging up to 350kW, and torque vectoring.

Given it’s all-electric nature, it’s no surprise to see the Q6 E-Tron does without a traditional grille aperture. Instead all cooling comes via an intake cutout at the bottom of the front bumper.

We don’t know about the drivetrains that will be offered with the new Macan and Q6 E-Tron, but the massive rear tyres on this prototype suggest there will be plenty of power and torque available.

It’s likely rear- and all-wheel drive versions will be made available, as well as a range of battery pack capacities.

The Q6 E-Tron was erroneously referred to as the Q5 E-Tron in an investors’ document late last year. Audi CEO Markus Duessman has since confirmed the new electric crossover will be badged as the Q6 E-Tron.
