Ford Escape recalled

Ford is recalling more than a dozen plug-in hybrid Escape crossovers as they could go into limp mode.

“Due to a software issue, the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) may inadvertently shift to neutral while driving, come to a stop and automatically shift to ‘Park’,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this occurs and the driver shifts back into drive, the vehicle will enter a limp home mode which provides limited torque at low speeds.

“The vehicle coasting to a stop whilst driving or loss of motive power could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

• A total of 15 vehicles are affected, built between February 8, 2022 and September 18, 2022

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Ford dealership to have it rectified, free of charge.
