Ford is recalling everyF-150 pickup truck it has sold in Australia, due to the potential for vehicles to lose power, or move while parked.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the rear wheel hub bolts may become loose or break causing damage to the wheel axle and axle hub splines over time,” Ford Australia says in its recall notice.
“This could result in the vehicle moving whilst engaged in park position or a loss of motive power.
“Note: A broken wheel hub bolt will not result in wheel separation.
“A loss of motive power whilst driving and/or the vehicle’s movement whilst in the park position could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users.”

Notably, that’s more than the number of F-150s sold by Ford since late 2023, because it includes all vehicles still in Ford Australia’s possession, such as those going through the right-hand drive conversion process, vehicles in dealer stock, and some future model year vehicles in the country for development purposes.
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a Ford Australia dealership to have a free inspection and rectification carried out.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Ford Australia on 13 36 73.
The recall comes as Ford Australia recently confirmed the F-150 was on a stop-sale order, without confirming just what the stop-sale was for.
It’s also the latest in a series of recalls for the full-size American pickup, which is remanufactured in right-hand drive locally by RMA Automotive.
