Ford Australia is recalling its current-generation Ranger and Everest due to a seatbelt issue.
“Due to a defect during assembly, some vehicles may have the driver’s seatbelt assembled incorrectly,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This will reduce the effectiveness of the seatbelt in the event of an accident.
“If the seatbelt is not assembled correctly, it will not adequately restrain the occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury or death.”
Ford will contact owners of affected vehicles when parts become available.
If you own one, you’ll need to make an appointment at a Ford dealership for a free inspection and fix.
If you have any further questions, you can contact your Ford dealer or the company’s Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673).
