Ford Ranger Raptor gets even tougher

The Blue Oval brand’s desert-ready dual-cab 4x4 ute can now be had with a limited-edition Desert Pack, but it doesn’t come cheap.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is already the most capable off-road ute you can buy new in Australia, allowing you to cross the Simpson Desert straight off the showroom floor, but now you can purchase an even tougher one.

Limited to 500 units Australia-wide, the Ranger Raptor Desert Pack is priced at $5990 including dealer fitment – on top of the price of a new MY26 Raptor ($90,690 before on-road costs).

For a total outlay of more than $100,000, the limited-edition accessory pack makes the Australian-developed super-ute even more adventure-ready thanks to off-road racing-inspired roof lighting and other handy upgrades.

The Ranger Raptor Desert Pack includes:

    • Purpose-built ARB sports bar
    • Four roof bar-mounted ARB Nacho Quatro Lamps
    • Exclusive Desert Pack Decal (no-cost)
    • Ford Performance all-weather floor mats – front and rear

Ford says the ARB sports bar and roof-mounted Nacho Quatro Lamps will remain exclusive to the Desert Pack until all 500 units are sold, after which they’ll become available as individual accessories via Ford dealers.

It said the trophy truck-inspired additions, developed exclusively for the Raptor by Australian off-road equipment manufacturer ARB, were inspired by the vehicle’s three consecutive wins in the Stock Class of the gruelling Finke Desert Race.

“The Ranger Raptor has proven itself in the toughest conditions imaginable, setting records at Finke in the Stock Class competition and demonstrating genuine, real-world, desert racing capability,” said Ford Australia marketing director Ambrose Henderson.

“The Desert Pack celebrates that racing heritage while delivering the authentic off-road enhancements that our most enthusiastic customers have been asking for. By partnering with ARB, we’re bringing that same spirit of extreme performance to customers who demand that little bit extra capability and style from their Raptor.”

The only problem is the Raptor’s factory-fitted Power Roller Shutter is not compatible with the Desert Pack, although the Real Truck Power Roller Shutter (previously Mountain Top) can be fitted and is available as a Ford accessory.

And Ford advises that operation of the Nacho driving lights may prevent the DAB+ digital radio from working, and that “use of these lights are subject to state and territory regulations and owners should check these before operating”.

There’s are no other changes for the 2026 Ranger Raptor, meaning its twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre petrol V6 continues to deliver 292kW of power and 583Nm of torque.

The Desert Pack is available to order via Ford dealers now for MY26 Ranger Raptors, which will begin production in October 2025, with vehicles expected to arrive nationally in the coming months.

So far this year, the Raptor has accounted for no less than 12 per cent of all Ranger 4×4 sales in Australia – an incredible 4765 out of an unrivalled 39,729 vehicles.
