Hyundai is recalling over 5000 i30 Sedans due to a defective seat belt pre-tensioner.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the seat belt pre-tensioner inflator may fracture when deployed in the event of an accident,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the seat belt pre-tensioner inflator fractures, metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to make an appointment at a Hyundai dealership for a free inspection and repair.
If you have any further questions, you can contact the Hyundai Customer Care team on 1800 186 306.
