Mercedes-Benz is recalling 470 examples of its C-Class due to a potential fire risk.

“Due to a manufacturing issue, the battery ground point connection bolts may not have been tightened to specification,” the company says in its recall notice.

“This could increase the electrical resistance of the connections, resulting in a vehicle fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership as soon as possible to have the work carried out, free of charge.

If you have any further questions, you can contact Mercedes-Benz’s Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 300 896.
