A sensor fault in some 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS models may lead to their pop-up bonnet not working in an impact with a pedestrian.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling a handful of CLS four-door coupes as there’s a fault with one of their safety systems.
“Due to a software issue with the airbag control unit, the pedestrian detection sensor may not function as intended,” the company says in its recall notice.
“In the event of an accident, if the pedestrian detection pop-up bonnet feature does not operate as intended it could increase the risk of injury or death to pedestrians.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Mercedes-Benz’s customer assistance centre on 1300 762 718.
