Audi is recalling 2783 of its A1, A3 and TT models for a fault with their dual-clutch automatic transmission.
“Due to a production fault, over time a crack in the transmission’s pressure accumulator can occur,” Audi says in its recall notice.
“If the pressure accumulator cracks, oil and pressure is lost in the hydraulic system of the gearbox. As a result, the transmission of engine power via the gearbox is interrupted.”
Audi says the fault will feel like you’ve depressed the clutch in a manual vehicle, and has issued the standard warning that this could therefore increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.
If you own an affected A1, A3 or TT, you’ll need to take it to your nearest Audi dealer for repair.
For further information, contact Audi Australia on 1800 50 AUDI (2834) between 8am and 6pm.
