2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class recalled

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 277 examples of its current-generation A-Class due to an issue that could lead to stalling.

“The volume of oil in the dual clutch transmission may be too high,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If the oil level is too high, transmission oil could foam up, which can lead to the vehicle stalling. In extreme driving situations, transmission oil might leak, spilling on to the road or coming in contact with hot engine components and creating a fire risk.”

Mercedes-Benz says this increases the risk of injury or death.

Additionally, it notes that as a result of the fault, “the maximum levels of CO2 and exhaust gas emissions may be exceeded”.

• A total of 277 vehicles are affected.
• Affected vehicles were available for sale from 2 April 2019 to 30 March 2020.
