The Mini Cooper is entering 2026 with no major specification or price changes, though it's missing one fully electric variant.

The iconic Mini Cooper has entered 2026 largely unchanged, with minor lineup tweaks bringing no major price changes.

At the bottom of the range, which comprises no fewer than 23 variants, is still the Mini Cooper C Core three-door hatch priced at $41,990 before on-road costs. It tops out at $67,990 plus on-roads for the fully loaded John Cooper Works (JCW) Favoured convertible.

With six different powertrains and three body styles on offer, the Cooper is a diverse model range. There are basic three-door hatches, larger five-door hatches, and two-door convertibles, alongside four levels of internal combustion power and two fully electric variants.

Still present are the hotted-up JCW performance flagships, which are available in petrol three-door, petrol convertible, and electric three-door forms. The petrol versions are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing an unchanged 170kW of power and 320Nm of torque.

The electric JCW E, meanwhile, produces 190kW and 350Nm, with power drawn from a 54.2kWh lithium-ion battery. The only other electric vehicle (EV) in the range is the non-performance Cooper SE, as the entry-level electric Cooper E is currently unavailable.

The electric Cooper is still built in China and related to the recently launched Mini Aceman EV. It was developed and is produced as part of a joint venture between the BMW Group and GWM.

Combustion-powered Coopers, meanwhile, continue to be built in the UK. This family of Coopers launched in 2024, marking the fourth generation of the German-owned British marque’s most iconic model since BMW took ownership of the brand in 2000.

As of 2025, the Cooper is Australia’s best-selling premium light car. With 2263 deliveries for the year, it thrashed the Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, and Audi A1, and even put pressure on the cheaper Toyota Yaris.

    Servicing and Warranty

Mini Australia backs its range with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre new-vehicle warranty. The brand doesn’t outline service intervals; instead, it follows its parent company BMW in adopting a ‘condition-based’ service schedule.

    Servicing and WarrantyMini Cooper JCW
    Vehicle warranty5 years, unlimited kilometres
    High-voltage battery warranty8 years, 100,000km
    Roadside assistance3 years
    Service intervalsCondition-based
    Capped-price servicing5-year, 80,000km prepaid plan
    Total capped-price service cost$2425

Mini says its vehicles continually monitor their own health and will alert owners when it’s time for a service. The brand says service intervals will depend on the vehicle’s condition and the owner’s driving style, with information collected from on-board sensors and passed on to the service centre.
