Toyota Australia has increased prices across the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Toyota LandCruiser Prado ranges by up to $1000.

The increase means the Prado GX is now priced from $73,200 before on-road costs, while the LandCruiser 300 Series now starts from $99,340 before on-roads. No specification changes have been made to the two SUV lineups.

The price rise doesn’t impact the LandCruiser 70 Series, which is currently under a stop-sale in GXL wagon guise following an eight-month production pause from September 2025 as Toyota updates the vehicle to meet stricter Euro 6 emissions standards.

While Ford Australia pointed to the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) as a factor behind a $5000 price hike for the Mustang – which came ahead of price rises for the Ford Ranger and Everest, rivals to the Toyota HiLux and Prado respectively – Toyota didn’t cite emissions regulations as a factor on this occasion.

“Toyota is committed to keeping price increases to a minimum. These changes came into effect recently due to increased costs and inflationary pressures both here and overseas,” a spokesperson told CarExpert.

The Prado was narrowly outsold by the rival Everest in 2025, with 26,106 deliveries compared to the Everest’s 26,161 – a difference of just 55 vehicles.

The Large SUV segment, in which the Prado and Everest compete, grew by 11 per cent in 2025, while the Upper Large SUV segment – home to the LandCruiser 300 Series and Nissan Patrol, which was given a range-wide $5000 price rise in August – shrank by 21.6 per cent over the same period.

Despite the downturn, the LandCruiser 300 Series, with the old 70 Series wagon, still held 63.9 per cent of its segment. That was almost double the next-best seller, the Patrol, with the segment expected to become more closely contested in 2026 with the arrival of the Denza B8 off-roader and the next-generation Y63 Patrol.

Toyota Australia vice president of sales and marketing Sean Hanley told CarExpert at the September 2025 announcement of the updated LandCruiser 300 Series – due in showrooms before April 2026 – that the company was unable to secure enough vehicles to meet customer demand.

A LandCruiser Hybrid has yet to be priced locally but is expected to start at above the current range-topping GR Sport, which now costs $147,160 before on-road costs following the $1000 increase.

The LandCruiser Hybrid is set to use the same powertrain already offered in the Toyota Tundra ute, which outsold the Ford F-150 in Australia in 2025 after supply of the rival pickup was restricted for several months while Ford addressed unspecified issues.

Toyota once again topped the local sales charts in 2025, recording 239,863 deliveries – just shy of its record-setting 241,296 sales achieved the previous year.

Toyota also retained its position as the best-selling automaker globally last year, stretching its lead over second-placed Volkswagen.
