Hyundai i30 recalled, over 18,000 vehicles affected

Hyundai is recalling over 18,000 examples of its i30 Hatch as they could suddenly lose power.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may become deformed under certain environmental conditions, interrupting the fuel supply,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
