    The new Volkswagen Golf is a small car offered in both 5D Hatchback and 2D Convertible body styles. Available in Australia from $24,990 (MLRP, excl. on-roads) for the CL variant and topping out at $51,090 for the Base.

    There are 4 variants of the Golf available in Australia.

    Engine options include 2L multi-point injection (85kW/166Nm), 2L multi-point injection (85kW/166Nm), 1.9L turbo diesel direct injection (66kW/202Nm), 1.8L single-point injection (66kW/145Nm), 1.8L single-point injection (66kW/145Nm) and 2.8L multi-point injection (128kW/235Nm). Available with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions. All variants feature front-wheel drive.

    The new 1997 Golf is offered with a 3 year, 60,000 km warranty.
